Based on the analysis of historical and pedagogical literature, the ideas of formation and development of the phenomenon of self-improvement of the teacher's personality as a reflection of the national-cultural identity of the Ukrainian people are studied, the periods of development of the phenomenon of self-improvement in the history of national pedagogical thought are determined; it is found that the phenomenon of self-improvement is an example of the intertwining of rational and irrational, intellectual and sensual; domestic models of self-improvement are characterized by cordocentrism, which reflects the mentality of the Ukrainian nation, the philosophy of the heart and the pedagogy of the soul.
На підставі аналізу історико-педагогічної літератури досліджено ідеї становлення й розвитку феномену самовдосконалення особистості педагога як відображення національно-культурної ідентичності українського народу, визначено періоди розвитку феномену самовдосконалення в історії вітчизняної педагогічної думки; з’ясовано, що феномен самовдосконалення – приклад переплетіння раціонального та ірраціонального, інтелектуального й чуттєвого; вітчизняні моделі самовдосконалення характеризуються кордоцентричністю, що відображає ментальність української нації, філософію серця та педагогіку душі.
