Сутність поняття «критичне мислення» та його історіогенез

Abstract

Метою статті є вивчення феномену «критичне мислення» на основі аналізу наукової філософської і психологопедагогічної літератури, систематизації та узагальнення теоретичних даних. Дослідження органічно поєднує історичний, етимологічний і сутнісний складники. Специфіка наукової праці має потребу спиратися на відомості минулого. Вивчення виникнення та розвитку критичного мислення в історичному аспекті узгоджується з хронологічною послідовністю етапів розвитку людської цивілізації від античності до сучасності. Відкриття та досягнення найбільш відомих учених кожної історичної епохи наведено у взаємозв’язку та взаємовпливі, чим доведена рушійна роль розвитку та історична спадкоємність суті досліджуваного феномену. Згадані перші друковані використання терміна «критичне мислення». Огляд та аналіз численної кількості визначень зарубіжних і вітчизняних учених свідчить про теоретичну та практичну актуальність питання. Концепція кожного вченого висвітлює певні аспекти критичного мислення, надаючи можливість заглибитися в його розуміння. Водночас чітко простежується спільна основа, підґрунтя, на якому вибудовується розмаїття тлумачень суті питання. За відсутності визначення «критичне мислення» як єдиного терміна в сучасних українських словниках сумісне тлумачення понять «мислення» та «критика», «критичний» дають змогу впевнитися в смисловому взаємозбагаченні поєднання двох слів в один цілісний термін. Особлива увага приділяється висвітленню поглядів західних та українських учених на розвиток критичного мислення щодо його застосування в психолого-педагогічній галузі. Наведено переконливі аргументи на користь необхідності розвитку критичного мислення як невіддільного складника розумового процесу людини сучасного історичного періоду. Зазначається, що українські педагоги та психологи, базуючись на напрацюваннях західних колег, враховують специфіку українського суспільства в соціальному, ментальному, психологічному аспектах. Представлено перспективи щодо виявлення рівня критичного мислення, урахування психологічних умов його розвитку та виявлення впливу психологічних особливостей в юнацький період становлення особистості.

The aim of the article is to study the phenomenon of «critical thinking» based on analysis of scientific philosophical and psychological-pedagogical literature, systematization and generalization of theoretical data. The study naturally combines historical, etymological and essential components. Specifics of scientific work need to be based on information from the past. The study of the origin and development of critical thinking in historical aspect is consistent with chronological sequence of stages of development of human civilization from antiquity to modernity. Discoveries and achievements of the most famous scientists of each historical epoch are showed in their connection and interaction, thus proving driving role of development and historical continuity of the essence of studied phenomenon. The first printed uses of the term «critical thinking» are mentioned. Review and analysis of a large number of definitions of foreign and domestic scientists show theoretical and practical relevance of the issue. The concept of each scientist highlights certain aspects of critical thinking, providing an opportunity for its deeper understanding. At the same time, the common ground, the basis on which the diversity of interpretations of the essence of the issue is built, is clearly traced. In the absence of a definition of «critical thinking» as a single term in modern Ukrainian dictionaries, the combined interpretation of the concepts of «thinking» and «critical» allows us to ensure the semantic enrichment of the combination of two words into one integral term. Particular attention is paid to highlighting views of Western and Ukrainian scholars on the development of critical thinking on its application in psychological and pedagogical area. The convincing arguments are provided in favor of the need of developing critical thinking as an integral part of human mental process in modern historical period. It is noted that Ukrainian teachers and psychologists, based on the work of Western colleagues, take into account specifics of Ukrainian society, in regard with social, mental, and psychological aspects. Prospects for identification of level of critical thinking, taking into account psychological conditions of its development, and identifying the impact of psychological characteristics of personality development in adolescent period are presented.
