According to the Ministry of Education and Science, there are currently 630 students with autism spectrum disorders in
Ukraine. Of these, 175 children are in inclusive and special classes of general education schools. At the same time, in 2016,
6,259 cases of diagnosis of "childhood autism" were recorded.
Autism is one of the main causes of childhood disability. The prognosis depends on the degree of severity of autistic
disorders, the presence or absence of organic lesions, the development of intelligence, language and timeliness of therapeutic
measures. It is known that in the absence of treatment, correctional care, nearly 70% of children with autism continue to have
severe invalidating disorders and require constant care of third parties. Timely treatment and correctional intervention
significantly improves the prognosis.
Disorders of the autistic spectrum today are considered not only as clinical, psychological and pedagogical but also as
a physiotherapeutic problem, which is related to the society's need to involve in the educational space those categories of
children who were previously recognized as not being subject to study. This makes scientific substantiation and development of
methods of correctional and physiotherapeutic work with autistic children more and more relevant.
Consequently, modern studies prove that physiotherapeutic methods of treatment are auxiliary and are used in
combination with other methods of exposure: drug therapy, diet therapy, exercise therapy, neuropsychological correction,
TOMATIS, micro polarization. osteopathy, speech therapy, defectology, sand therapy, massage, water rehab, heliotherapy, etc.
Work with each child should be done taking into account his individual characteristics, needs and requests.
