The article notes that the topic of professional pedagogical competence of teachers is very relevant today. Its relevance is determined by modern trends in the development of society; the leading role of education and the need to ensure its priority for the development of society; modern trends in the development of the education system; necessity of introduction of innovative approaches in teaching and educational process. It is the competence approach that is considered as one of the important conceptual principles that defines the modern methodology of renewal of education.
So the pedagogical competence of teachers of physical culture is the synthesis of professionalism, (special, methodical, psychological and pedagogical preparation) of creativity, (the creativity of the relationship, the learning process itself, the optimal use of means, methods, methods of teaching) and art (acting and oratory). The professional responsibility of teachers of physical culture is the constant improvement of professional skill, perfection of professional competence. This is the main condition for creative activity and the growth of pedagogical skill.
Pedagogical competence is a dynamic phenomenon, the systematic renewal of which is conditioned by changes in society, the strategic orientation of education, problems arising from personal experience and the specifics of each teacher's activity.
The modern competent teacher of physical culture must possess such professional competences as: civil, social, general cultural, ability to learn, technological (informational), scientific-methodical, prognostic, communicative, health-saving, entrepreneurial, self-development and self-improvement, reflexive.
Prospects for further research are related to the development and implementation of innovative teaching aids and in the future the search for ways to use information technologies of a new education paradigm in the teaching of physical education teachers in a higher educational establishment.
