У статті розглянуто науково-дослідницьку діяльність студентів вищих педагогічних навчальних закладів України у другій половині ХХ століття (60-90 рр.). Вказано результати впровадження цієї діяльності в навчальний процес.

The problem of students’ training for research activity was relevant in different periods of socio-economic development of society. The particular interest in terms of applying creativity and achievements of national educational theory and practice takes the twentieth century. This period is the most effective in development of students' science, because it was caused by changes in the political, social, economic and cultural life of the country. The introduction of common secondary education greatly increased the pedagogical direction in university practice. The growing needs of secondary school in teacher training caused the expanse in the number of teaching staff. The profound problem of this period was completing of pedagogical universities. In the second half of the twentieth century the significant experience in organization of student research work as a component of their training in higher education institutions was accumulated. Certain changes which occurred in that period of the organization of research work of students were caused by increasing attention of both official circles and most teachers to student’s effectuation of practical tasks, the application of different incentives that led to mastering the skills of independent research. Being deeply awarded of the importance of students research work in improving the quality of training and development of creative abilities of future professionals, leading scientists of Ukraine strived for forming skills and methods of scientific knowledge of the surrounding world.
