Організаційна складова частина системи вищої освіти США

Abstract

У статті розглядаються деякі аспекти організаційної складової частини системи вищої освіти США. Йдеться про державні або приватні університети, коледжі вільних мистецтв, громадські або некомерційні коледжі. Наводять- ся дані статистики стосовно рейтингу університетів усього світу. Коледжі та університети в США розглянуто з точки зору цілей: деякі з них можуть зробити акцент на професійну, ділову, інженерну чи технічну, навчальні плани або на навчальні плани гуманітарних наук. Описано ступені, які отримують випускники вищих навчальних закладів США (асоційований ступінь, ступінь бакалавра гуманітарних наук і бакалавра природничих наук, ступінь магістра, докторський ступінь). Виокремлені деякі типи установ, які забезпечують отримання дипломів у США. Описані кри- терії, за якими оцінюють університети та коледжі акредитаційні відомства. Наведено класифікацію університетів залежно від переважання ступенів, що надаються.

The article examines some aspects of the organizational component of the US higher education system. These are public or private universities, colleges of liberal arts, public or non-profit colleges. Statistics are provided on the ranking of universities around the world. Colleges and universities in the United States are considered in terms of goals: some may focus on professional, business, engineering or technical curricula or on curricula in the humanities. Described are the degrees received by graduates from US higher education institutions (associate degree, bachelor’s degree in humanities and bachelor of natural sciences, master’s degree, doctoral degree). Some types of institutions that provide diplomas in the United States are identified. The criteria for assessment by universities and colleges of accreditation departments are described. The classification of universities is given, depending on the degree of predominance of degrees.
