Серед стратегічних завдань і головних шляхів реформування освіти - є розробка державних та авторських програм. А також оновлення змісту, форм і методів навчання відповідно до вікових особливостей дітей шкільного віку. Виділення «Гімнастики» як базової дисципліни визначається, перш за все, універсальним характером її змісту. Оскільки техніка виконання гімнастичних вправ доволі складна, вчитель повинен у досконалості володіти методикою навчання цих фізичних вправ.
