Setting the problem. Deaf children lag behind their contemporaries in physical and mental development from birth. In case of saving deafness in adulthood it leads to a stable disability. Therefore, nowadays the only way to treat patients with total deafness is cochlear implantation, which means installing an electronic device (a cochlear implant) in the human inner ear to restore hearing; that is the standard medical correction of pediatric deafness in Ukraine now. The aim of the study was to determine the characteristics of physical preparation and physical qualities development of preschool-aged children who underwent cochlear implantation. Methods and organization of the research. During the research 19 children aged between 5,3 ± 0,2 years who underwent cochlear implantation were examined. The control group consisted of 23 children with normal hearing. The main material. The results of the study have shown that children who had undergone cochlear implantation, lagged behind their healthy contemporaries in certain indicators of physical development (statistic reliability is p <0.05): reducing muscle strength of brush on the basis of dynamometry has comprised 33%; speed-strength abilities of hands during the test with a medicine ball have reduced by 20%; decrease in strength endurance of shoulder girdle and hands muscles while hanging on a pull-up bar for the duration has constituted 29%; infringement of finger coordination based on the test with a pyramid has comprised 59%; slowing down the speed of hand movements on the tapping test results has come up to 33%; reduction in power and speed qualities of pelvic girdle and feet muscles while determining of the length of the jump has constituted 20%; deterioration of static equilibrium for the duration while standing in Romberg position has reached 57%; reducing flexibility while bending forward has been defined at 63%; deterioration of agility during a shuttle run has comprised 29%..Conclusions. Thus, some health problems have been revealed in children who underwent cochlear implantation; the problems lie in the backlog in physical preparation compared to healthy contemporaries and require correction by means of physical rehabilitation.
