The article analyzes the main stages of the formation and development of the life, cultural, and socio-political activities of a quite controversial personality, the brother of the famous Ukrainian artist G. Narbut, a representative of a well-known Ukrainian aristocratic family, a poet of the Acmeist movement during the Silver Age of poetry, and an active participant in the establishment of the Bolshevik regime in Ukraine, V. Narbut. The factors influencing the formation of the artist and politician's personality are characterized, and the impact of V. Narbut's family and social environment, as well as Ukraine's historical past, on the poet's creativity is revealed. The article uncovers both the socio-political activities marked by somersaults and characterized by organizational work in Soviet bodies and organizations, and V. Narbut's role in organizing the Ukrainian news agency, the future RATAU, and his involvement in the professional development of the artists of the Ukrainian national revival of the 1920s. The circumstances of V. Narbut's tragic death, when he became one of the hundreds of thousands of victims of Stalin's «Great Terror» era, are also highlighted.
