Греко-католицький єпископ Іван Лятишевський (1879–1957) як мученик за віру: історіографічний дискурс і джерельна база

Abstract

Мета роботи – комплексно висвітлити проблему дослідження життєвого шляху та діяльності єпископа Івана Лятишевського крізь призму історіографії та джерельної бази. У статті розглянуто процес формування історіографічного образу єпископа Івана Лятишевського, вказано на деякі нерозв’язані питання його життєпису, окреслено джерельну базу та перспективні питання для подальших досліджень. Проведений історіографічний аналіз життя та діяльності владики І. Лятишевського дозволив показати певну еволюцію поглядів істориків на цю проблему. Формування історіографічного образу І. Лятишевського розпочинається орієнтовно з часу його призначення єпископом-помічником Станиславівської єпархії 1929 р., коли з’являються перші публікації його біографії. Черговим етапом розвитку історіографії проблеми став післявоєнний час, коли сформувалися два історіографічних напрями – радянський та український діаспорний. У сучасній українській історіографії, в якій можна умовно виокремити три періоди, спостерігається поступовий перехід від дослідження життєпису І. Лятишевського переважно крізь призму процесів насильницької ліквідації УГКЦ у 1945–1946 рр. та формування структур підпільної, «катакомбної» Церкви у 1950-х рр. до «звуження» предмету дослідження спершу до історичного розвитку Станиславівської (Івано-Франківської) єпархії, а відтак, у другій декаді 2000-х рр., уже безпосередньо до особи самого владики. Значною мірою на інтенсивність наукових досліджень впливав і запит УГКЦ на підготовку беатифікаційної справи І. Лятишевського, що сьогодні перебуває на стадії «канонічного дорозслідування». Окреслене коло історичних джерел дозволить майбутнім дослідникам сформувати цілісний та об’єктивний погляд на життя і діяльність владики І. Лятишевського.

The aim of the work. Comprehensively highlight the problem of researching the life path and activities of Bishop Ivan Lyatyshevsky through the prism of historiography and the source base. The article examines the process of forming the historiographical image of Bishop Ivan Lyatyshevskyi, points out some “unsolved” issues of his biography, outlines the source base and promising issues for further research. Conclusions: The conducted historiographical analysis of the life and activities of bishop I. Lyatyshevsky allowed us to show a certain evolution of historian’ views on the problem. The formation of the historiographical image of I. Lyatyshevskyi begins roughly from the time of his appointment as an assistant bishop of the Stanislaviv Diocese in 1929, when the first publications of his biography appear. The next stage in the development of the historiography of the problem was the post-war period, when two historiographic trends were formed – the Soviet and the Ukrainian diasporic. In modern Ukrainian historiography, in which three periods can be conditionally distinguished, there is a gradual transition from the study of the life of I. Lyatyshevsky mainly through the prism of the processes of the violent liquidation of the UGCC in 1945–1946 and the formation of the structures of the underground, “catacomb” Church in the 1950s, to “narrowing” the subject of research first to the historical development of the Stanislaviv (Ivano-Frankivsk) eparchy, and then, in the second decade of the 2000s, directly to the person of the bishop himself. To a large extent, the intensity of scientific research was influenced by the request of the UGCC to prepare the beatification case of I. Lyatyshevsky, which is currently at the stage of “canonical investigation”. The outlined circle of historical sources will allow future researchers to form a holistic and objective view of the life and activities of Bishop I. Lyatyshevskyi.
