Пророческое возвещение на берегах Невы и Сены. Мережковский и Гиппиус в дневниково - мемуарной литературе

Abstract

У статті розглядається рецепція російською, переважно – емігрантською громадскістю, суспільної діяльності подружжя Мережковських, які самі трактували останню як місію утвердження Третього Завіту: мова йшла про поновлення християнської традиції. Автобіографічні матеріали та спогади про Мережковських величезні за об’ємом та непогано вивчені. Але все ж таки тут виявляються не до кінця прояснені аспекти (концепція письменника як Учителя «глаголом жгущего сердца людей», проблема Поета і суспільства та ін.). Загальна та поверхова думка полягає в тому, що письменники вони слабкуваті, і про поетичне горіння духу тут годі й говорити. «Проповідь» Мережковських взагалі часто ігнорується. Весь цей багатий та драматичний матеріал використовується частіш за все в рамках вивчення письменницької біографії або ж як ілюстрація до історичних подій, хоча в ньому яскраво і точно закарбувалася ще й величезна панорама перед- і постреволюційного соціально-духовного сум’яття в російському суспільстві, покручені долі діячів культури.

The article deals with the social activity of the Merezhkovsky couple in emigration and its reception by the emigrant society. The Merezhkovskies perceived that activity as a mission and the embodiment of the Third Testament thinking about the renewal of the Christian tradition. The author gives a detailed analysis of the autobiographical sources and the memoirs by the Merezhkovskies which are at our disposal in considerable amount and are sufficiently considered by critics. In spite of this fact there are some unclear aspects, for instance, the concept of Teacher «who is searing the hearts of men with righteous word», the problem of Poet and Society and etc. The author of the article comes to conclusion that it is worse speaking about their ―poetic burning of spirit‖ regardless of the fact that the general tendency is to perceive them as weak men of letters. «Preachment» by the Merezhkovskies is frequently ignored. This rich and dramatic material is often used in the frame of studies of their artistic biography and as an illustration of the historical events, though it vividly and precisely depicts the great panorama of the pre- and post-war social and spiritual turmoil in the Russian society as well as the ruined lives of cultural figures. The article is of great help to lectures who prepare courses of Russian literature of the abovementioned period. It is also of interest to students and other researches whose activities are connected with the study of the life of this period.
